Education

“Education” is derived from the Latin word “educare” which means to nourish or bring up. It is the development of the best qualities in a child – mind, body and spirit. Though the mind and body are intricately interwoven entities that impact one another in numerous ways, the significance of mental health and wellness in education is paramount in ensuring the overall development of an individual.

Mira Centre for Innovation encourages the cultivation and practice of emotional and intellectual acumen. It also provides an agency for freedom of expression of individuals. The future lies in shaping a more compassionate student community. MCI aspires to achieve this by facilitating appropriate academic platforms and critical, intellectual discourses on topics like psychoanalysis, psychodynamic psychotherapy, literary criticism and film analysis. MCI also engages in facilitating faculty development programmes with an emphasis on the mentorship role of the teacher-student duo.

Mira Psychoanalytic Study Group

Keeping this as the guiding philosophy, the Mira Psychoanalytic Study Group was conceived on 11th December 2020. The study group was started with the idea of instilling the spirit of critical reflection among the participants in the areas of psychoanalysis, mental health and the allied fields of culture, gender, performance and literature. It also helps to cultivate the ability to amalgamate diverse perspectives, leading to an integrated development of psychic processes. The members of the Study Group meet once a month for a lecture or open discussion on a pre-decided topic. Reading material is often shared among the members to encourage mutual engagements in discussions.
